April 23, 2019
Dear Daniels Farm School Families,
SBAC testing for grades three, four and five begins on Tuesday, April 30. The assessment consists of three segments: English/Language Arts, Mathematics, and a Mathematics Performance Task. In addition, fifth grade students will take the new Next Generation Science Standards assessment (NGSS). We have created a school schedule allowing classroom instruction to continue as normal, while providing students with an optimum testing environment. The table below details the schedule by grade level windows.
The SBAC assessments are aligned to the Common Core State Standards embedded in our daily curriculum, so we expect our students to do as well as similar students across the state. We maintain a low stress environment, explaining to students they should do their personal best, as results from the assessments will guide our future classroom instruction. Please aid us in this process by ensuring students go to bed on time, eat a healthy breakfast each morning, and bring a healthy snack to school.
Should you have any questions, please contact me directly.

Students who consistently read at home realize the greatest gains in decoding, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension. Reading enjoyment also increases, and the goal of developing a lifelong reader is attained. Attached is a video with real life tips to help establish a nightly routine and make reading a priority at home!
