Dear 5th Grade Parents,
Students and families are looking forward to the upcoming 5th grade Stepping Forth Ceremony. In order to ensure a safe and enjoyable time for all, we ask that you read and follow the instructions below.
· The ceremony will being promptly at 10:00AM on Monday, June 17, in the DFS gymnasium. Doors open at 9:15AM with visitors signing in at the front entrance. A reception follows in the cafeteria, with snacks and beverages provided.
· We have 92 fifth grade students moving on to middle school this year. This allows for three guests per student based on available seating and fire code restrictions. If every student has three guests in attendance, roughly 26 guests will stand behind the formal seating.
· Siblings may not be removed from the classroom to attend the ceremony.
· Student dress code is collared shirts for boys and cool sundresses or the like for girls. There is no air conditioning in the gymnasium or cafeteria.
If you have any questions, please contact me directly.
Thursday, June 13 is our annual Awards Assembly. All families are invited to attend. Families of students receiving significant awards have received invitations via U.S. mail.
Students who participated in various groups i.e. school helpers, safety patrols, Word Masters, Battle of the Books, attendance awards etc., will receive certificates in their classrooms and will be acknowledged at the assembly.
Grades K, 1, 2 - 9:00 a.m.
Grades 3, 4, 5 - 10:00 a.m.
Both assemblies will be held in the gym.
