Daniels Farm School provides families with two grade and program level based evenings to meet the teachers and become informed about the basic curriculum. These are held in September for grades K through 5 and PPS.
Halloween Family Fun Night
One of the most popular events the PTA sponsors, the Halloween Extravaganza is an evening event where families and students can get together for a night of hauntingly good fun. This is a costume party with a DJ and many spooky games and surprises (of course, held in October).
Open house is an opportunity for parents and guardians to visit our classrooms. Open house will be held in October from 9am-12pm and 12pm-3pm. Specific dates and times are sent home in mid-September.
Parent/Guardian-Teacher conferences give families a scheduled conference appointment to meet individually with the classroom teachers to discuss student progress (held in November).
SNOWFLAKE SHOP (FORMALLY Holiday Boutique)
The Snowflake Shop gives our young shoppers an opportunity to purchase gifts for family members and friends at affordable prices. This event is held during two lunch periods in December.
Our annual World Expo, in March, represents and shares the heritage of different countries of our school population! The evening includes lots of fun, food, games, unique crafts, beautiful displays, and diverse dancing and musical entertainment.
Our annual talent show, in April, gives students an opportunity to share their many talents with the entire DFS community. This evening show features various brief acts by students in grades K-5. Preparation usually begins in January.
Celebration of the Arts
The school staff and PTA work together to create an entire day devoted to the arts including music, dancing, painting, decoupage, stenciling and cartooning to name a few. Many local professionals, creative parents and special friends of DFS participate in this extraordinary day.
Our field day finds our DFS students engaged in a 2 hour block of outdoor activities that are fun for all (held in May).
Jump Rope for Heart
This after school activity (held in May) is for students in grades K-5. Students are organized in homeroom based teams and through pledges, earn money to be donated to the American Heart Association. DFS has been recognized as a Top Fundraiser by the American Heart Association not only in CT, but in the Northeast Region as well.
The annual egg drop is the kick off activity for our June Fair weekend. With parent helpers, each homeroom designs and crates packaging for a raw egg. This package, with its egg held safely inside, is then dropped from the top of a fire truck bucket out in the school's parking lot. Whose egg will survive? This is held the Friday of June Fair weekend.
The most popular event the PTA sponsors is the June Fair. It is held rain or shine on the first Saturday in June and provides four hours of games, music, food and fun for the entire family.
