Welcome from the DFS PTA!

The DFS PTA sponsors many exciting programs and events to enrich our children's curriculum throughout the year.  We are able to do so only with your support and we encourage all of our parents and teachers to join the PTA.  Please consider getting involved on any level - remember, the strength of our DFS PTA comes from YOU!

Mark your calendars for these upcoming DFS PTA meetings:

  • Tue, September  26th, 7:00 PM
    • Guest Speaker - Mr. Kunschaft
      Topic:  SBAC reviews and Q&A

Recap: With one of our best turnouts yet, we are proud to say we have an approved PTA budget, a full review of last year's SBAC scores, and many answered questions.  Congratulations to Karla Maffini, our raffle prize winner.  Special thank you to all the new families in attendance.

  • Tue, November 14th, 9:30 AM
    • Guest Speaker - Mrs. Windsor, Technology Specialist
Topic:  Social media for elementary kids

Recap: Mrs. Windsor focused today's meeting on social media.  She discussed Snapchat and SnoopReport.  She cautioned and strongly recommended that parents of kids in 3rd, 4th & 5th grade should really be on top of the latest info, especially with how ubiquitous technology is in the children's lives. Social media use is starting younger and younger.  The PTA is looking into sponsoring a parent panel later in the school year focusing on collaborative discussion with other parents sharing what works and doesn't work in their own homes.  Handout from session can be found here.
